I know this is not an analog synth but there is no section for guitar and it does contain Moog analog synth circuitry…
Please read the entire description below before messaging me. It contains a lot of important information.
I purchased this guitar from a Pawn shop not knowing much about it. The price was right and I am impulsive like that some times. They said it did not come with anything other than the guitar. I take it home and find out that it requires a special cable and foot pedal/power supply. I contacted the shop and they said it was not provided when sold. It has a pico pickup and when you plug that into an amp it works so they did not think anything else was needed. I figured anything with the Moog name on it would be pretty easy to obtain but that was not the case. Internally there is a Moog filter and a sustainer system that you need the cable and pedal to operate. I have searched long and far for them by themselves and have not been able to track them down. But......After a lot of research I ended up talking with Moog and then to Paul Vu himself and he has helped somewhat. He can sell the foot pedal for $100 and the power supply is easy to access but unfortunately the cable is not. It sends the power as well as audio out. In some of my research I have found that the connector itself is used on some sewing machines. In conversations with Paul and Moog I have obtained the schematics and what appears to be what is needed to build the cable. I am no expert so I cannot confirm this 100%. I do know Paul is helpful and could provide if needed. Building the cable is WAY out of my league and quite a bit of trouble. I was going to take on the task or possibly have someone build it for me but I have decided that I have other priorities at this time and interest. I know someone out there will be able to make this happen. I am not even much of a guitar player. I just thought it would be great to have access to in my studio for others to use.
Reverb says the last two of these was sold at $7,500. They are apparently pretty rare. That was actually why I thought I was getting a deal and bought it in the first place. I know with all the work this will take that would be insane to ask anything near that. I am just trying to recoup my losses and maybe give someone out there a deal. I am totally open to offers and trades as well. I suspect because of the price someone is going to bitch because that is what certain people do on sales post for some reason. I believe that I am being as fair as possible here based on what they were originally sold for $4,000+, what they have recently sold for $7,499 and addressing the work that it will require and the fact I can not test it. That brings me to my final point. Since I cannot test it I can not confirm that the internal parts are in working order. The guitar looks to have been well taken care of externally so I have no reason to assume that it would not. Also, the documentation I provide has information that could help it be repaired if it was damaged. Alternatively if you know someone with the needed parts and would like to borrow their's to test it I would be more than happy to allow that!
If you buy I will provide you the guitar as well as all documentations and contact with Paul to obtain the Pedal. As far as the guitar goes it is in what I would say 8.5/10 condition. I think it’s over 20 years old so that is not bad. There is some buckle rash on the back side it and there is a small dent/scratch in paint in the top right corner. Both can be seen in the photos. Other than that the unit looks great. Please message me with any questions but please make sure to read the above first as it contains a lot of important information. Thanks for reading and I hope we can make a deal!
